Litany of Empathy

O Jesus, Meek and Humble of Heart, hear us,

O Jesus, you who wept over Jerusalem, have mercy on us,

O Jesus, you who touched the man with leprosy, healing him, have mercy on us,

O Jesus, you who bore the sins of mankind because of your love for us, have mercy on us,

O Jesus, you who wept at the death of Lazarus, have mercy on us,

Lord Jesus, help us to love ourselves so that we can truly love others,

Lord Jesus, make us always attentive to the humanity of our brothers and sisters,

Lord Jesus, help us be in touch with our own feelings and emotions,

Lord Jesus, help us always place the needs of others before our own,

Lord Jesus, help us to forgive ourselves,

Lord Jesus, always help us to forgive those who have wronged us,

Lord Jesus, encourage us to place the good of our world and the Church above our own well-being,

Lord Jesus, for the grace to accept responsibility when we are in the wrong, let us pray,

Lord Jesus, for the grace to embrace our creativity as a testimony to the creative power of our Father in Heaven, let us pray,

Lord Jesus, for the grace to be tolerant of the weaknesses, insecurities and failures of others,

Lord Jesus, for the grace to see ourselves in others,

Lord Jesus, for the grace to understand the source of our emotions,

Lord Jesus, for the grace to always listen to others with a compassionate heart,

Lord Jesus, for the grace to judge not by appearance but by righteous judgement,

That my life is valuable,

Jesus, I trust in you,

That the lives of others have value,

Jesus, I trust in you,

That my emotions and feelings are important,

Jesus, I trust in you,

That the emotions of others are important,

Jesus, I trust in you,

That is safe to forgive and turn cheek to those who oppress,

Jesus, I trust in you.
