Our Father
If any of you lacks
wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without
reproach, and it will be given him. (Js 1:5) Hail Mary
But the wisdom
from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to
reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. (Js
3:17) Hail Mary
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets
understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain
from silver and her profit better than gold. She is
more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with
her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand
are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of
pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a
tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast
are called blessed. (Pv 3:13-18) Hail Mary
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man
listens to advice. (Pv 12:15) Hail Mary
Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain
wisdom in the future. (Pv 19:20) Hail Mary
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of
knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Pv 1:7) Hail Mary
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching
and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Cl 3:16) Hail
Mary
Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who
has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. Even a
fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he
is deemed intelligent. (Pv 17:27,28) Hail Mary
Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate
beforehand how to answer, for I will give you a mouth and wisdom,
which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. (Lk
21:14,15) Hail Mary
Who is like the wise? And who knows the interpretation of a
thing? A man's wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face
is changed. (Ecc 8:1) Hail Mary
Glory be
Our Father
Wisdom is
with the aged, and understanding in length of days. “With God are
wisdom and might; he has counsel and understanding. (Job 12:12,13) Hail Mary
I do not cease
to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God
of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of
wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the
eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to
which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance
in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us
who believe, according to the working of his great might. (Ep 1:16-19)
Hail Mary
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all
those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures
forever! (Ps 111:10) Hail Mary
Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn
away from evil. (Pv 3:7) Hail Mary
By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is
established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with
all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is
full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might, for
by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of
counselors there is victory. Wisdom is too high for
a fool; in the gate he does not open his mouth. (Pv 24:3-7) Hail
Mary
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy
and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to
the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to
Christ. (Cl 2:8) Hail Mary
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of
wisdom. (Ps 90:12) Hail Mary
Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good
conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. (Js 3:13) Hail
Mary
And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who
became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification
and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts,
boast in the Lord.” (1 Cn 1:30,31) Hail Mary
Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man
of understanding remains silent. (Pv 11:12) Hail Mary
Glory be
Our Father
Everyone then who
hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built
his house on the rock. (Mt 7:24) Hail Mary
So Jesus said to
the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my
disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you
free.” (Jn 8:31,32) Hail Mary
For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of
money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the
life of him who has it. (Ecc 7:12) Hail Mary
Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you
understanding in everything. (2 Tim 2:7) Hail Mary
Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of
God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! (Rm
11:33) Hail Mary
Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in
his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man
boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he
understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast
love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I
delight, declares the Lord.” (Jer 9:23,24) Hail Mary
Do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you
may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and
perfect. (Rm 12:2) Hail Mary
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. (Ep 5:15,16) Hail
Mary
Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you
great and hidden things that you have not known. (Jer 33:3) Hail Mary
In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask
what I shall give you.” And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great and
steadfast love to David my father, and have made me king in his place.
O Lord God, let your word to David my father be now
fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust
of the earth. Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out
and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which
is so great?” God answered Solomon, “Because this was in your
heart, and you have not asked for possessions, wealth, honor, or the life
of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked
for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I
have made you king, wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give
you riches, possessions, and honor, such as none of the kings had who
were before you, and none after you shall have the like.” (2 Ch 1:7-12) Hail
Mary
Glory be
Our Father
For this reason I
remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the
laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power
and love and self-control. (2 Tim 1:6,7) Hail Mary
And he said to man,
‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from
evil is understanding.’” (Job 28:28) Hail Mary
For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and
knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering
and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is
vanity and a striving after wind. (Ecc 2:26) Hail Mary
A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man
quietly holds it back. (Pv 29:11) Hail Mary
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of
the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will
have the light of life.” (Jn 8:12) Hail Mary
For I want you to know how great a struggle I have
for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to
face, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in
love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the
knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the
treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (Cl 2:1-3) Hail Mary
And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness
of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness,
like the stars forever and ever. (Dn 12:3) Hail Mary
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from
whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that
according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be
strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that
Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted
and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the
saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know
the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled
with all the fullness of God. (Ep 3:14-19) Hail Mary
To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you
have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we
asked of you, for you have made known to us the king's matter. (Dn 2:23) Hail
Mary
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks
that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the
wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the
wise in their craftiness,” and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the
wise, that they are futile.” (1 Cn 3:18-20) Hail Mary
Glory be
Our Father
Love justice, you
rulers of the world. Set your minds sincerely on the Lord, and look for him
with all honesty. Those who do not try to test him will find him; he will show
himself to those who trust him. (Wd 1:1,2) Hail Mary
Let's drink the
most expensive wines and use the finest perfumes. Let's not miss a single
flower in the springtime! Before the roses wither, let's pick them and wear
them in our hair! (Wd 2:7,8) Hail Mary
Honest deeds are like a tree that bears marvelous fruit.
Wisdom is like a root that is alive and can always send up new shoots. (Wd 3:15)
Hail Mary
We were so proud of ourselves—we bragged about how rich we
were—and now, what good has it done us? (Wd 5:8) Hail Mary
So then, you kings, you rulers the world over, listen to
what I say, and learn from it. You govern many lands and are proud that so many
people are under your rule, but this authority has been given to you by the
Lord Most High. He will examine what you have done and what you plan to do. (Wd
6:1-3) Hail Mary
Wisdom shines bright and never grows dim; those who love her
and look for her can easily find her. (Wd 6:12) Hail Mary
It is he who gave me true knowledge of the forces of nature:
what the world is made of; how the elements behave; how the calendar is
determined by the movements of the sun, the changing seasons, the
constellations, and the cycles of years. He has taught me about the nature of
living creatures, the behavior of wild animals, the force of the winds, the
reasoning powers of human beings, the different kinds of plants, and the use of
their roots as medicine. I learned things that were well known and things that
had never been known before, because Wisdom, who gave shape to everything that
exists, was my teacher. (Wd 7:17-22) Hail Mary
She is a reflection of eternal light, a perfect mirror of
God's activity and goodness. Even though Wisdom acts alone, she can do
anything. She makes everything new, although she herself never changes. From
generation to generation she enters the souls of holy people, and makes them
God's friends and prophets. There is nothing that God loves more than people
who are at home with Wisdom. (Wd 7:26-28) Hail Mary
Wisdom is more beautiful than the sun and all the
constellations. She is better than light itself, because night always follows
day, but evil never overcomes Wisdom. (Wd 7:29-30) Hail Mary
Your immortal
spirit is in every one of them, and so you gently correct those who sin against
you. You remind them of what they are doing, and warn them about it, so that
they may abandon their evil ways and put their trust in you, Lord. (Wd 12:1,2) Hail
Mary
Glory be
