Our Father
In arrogance the
wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that
they have devised. (Ps 10:2) Hail Mary
Thus says
the Lord: “For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I
will not revoke the punishment, because they carried into exile a whole
people to deliver them up to Edom. (Amos 1:6) Hail Mary
And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider's
name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a
fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with
pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth. (Rev 6:8) Hail Mary
In appearance the locusts were like horses prepared for
battle: on their heads were what looked like crowns of gold; their faces
were like human faces, their hair like women's hair, and their teeth
like lions' teeth; they had breastplates like breastplates of
iron, and the noise of their wings was like the noise of many chariots
with horses rushing into battle. They have tails and stings like
scorpions, and their power to hurt people for five months is in their
tails. (Rev 9:7-10) Hail Mary
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and
between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your
head, and you shall bruise his heel.” (Gen 3:15) Hail Mary
And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your
hand; only spare his life.” So Satan went out from the presence of
the Lord and struck Job with loathsome sores from the sole
of his foot to the crown of his head. (Job 2:6,7) Hail Mary
Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing
before the angel of the Lord, and Satan[a] standing at his right hand to accuse
him. (Zec 3:1) Hail Mary
And the Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke
you, O Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not
this a brand plucked from the fire?” Now Joshua was
standing before the angel, clothed with filthy garments. And the angel
said to those who were standing before him, “Remove the filthy
garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, I have taken your
iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure vestments.”
And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they
put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments. And the angel of
the Lord was standing by. (Zec 3:2-5) Hail Mary
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the
devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1
Pet 5:8) Hail Mary
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil
is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and
for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto
death, and I will give you the crown of life. (Rev 2:10) Hail Mary
Glory be
Our Father
If the world hates
you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world,
the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world,
but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. (Jn 15:18,19) Hail
Mary
Do not be
surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we
have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does
not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you
know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. (1 Jn 3:13-15) Hail
Mary
This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill
him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even
calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. (Jn 5:18) Hail
Mary
So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to
you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees
the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does
likewise. (Jn 5:19) Hail Mary
I have given them your word, and the world has hated
them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the
world. (Jn 17:14) Hail Mary
When they had preached the gospel to that city and
had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to
Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to
continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we
must enter the kingdom of God. (Act 14:21,22) Hail Mary
And we also thank God constantly for this,
that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you
accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is,
the word of God, which is at work in you believers. For you,
brothers, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus
that are in Judea. For you suffered the same things from your own
countrymen as they did from the Jews, who killed both the Lord
Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God
and oppose all mankind by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that
they might be saved—so as always to fill up the measure of their sins.
But wrath has come upon them at last! (1 Thess 2:13-16) Hail Mary
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jer 29:11)
Hail Mary
Princes persecute me without cause, but my heart stands
in awe of your words. (Ps 119:161) Hail Mary
Then King Zedekiah swore secretly to Jeremiah, “As
the Lord lives, who made our souls, I will not put you to death
or deliver you into the hand of these men who seek your life.” (Jer 38:16)
Hail Mary
Glory be
Our Father
Beware of men,
for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their
synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my
sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. (Mt 10:17,18) Hail
Mary
Then
Nebuchadnezzar in furious rage commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego be brought. So they brought these men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar
answered and said to them, “Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that
you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up? Now if
you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon,
harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that
I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you
shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god
who will deliver you out of my hands?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered
and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this
matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from
the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. (Dn
3:13-17) Hail Mary
Therefore I send you prophets and wise men
and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some
you will flog in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, so
that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood
of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah,
whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. Truly, I
say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. (Mt 23:34-36)
Hail Mary
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers
were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’— for
truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant
Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate,
along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever
your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. And now,
Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to
speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to
heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of
your holy servant Jesus.” (Act 4:26-30) Hail Mary
And when they heard that he was addressing them in the
Hebrew language, they became even more quiet. And he said: “I am a
Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated at
the feet of Gamaliel according to the strict manner of the law of our
fathers, being zealous for God as all of you are this day. I
persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering to prison
both men and women, as the high priest and the whole council of
elders can bear me witness. From them I received letters to the brothers,
and I journeyed toward Damascus to take those also who were there and bring
them in bonds to Jerusalem to be punished. (Act 22:2-5) Hail Mary
Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they
were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him. Then
the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I
do not know; am I my brother's keeper?” (Gen 4:8,9) Hail Mary
And the Lord said, “What have you done? The voice
of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground. And now you
are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your
brother's blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it shall no longer
yield to you its strength. You shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the
earth.” (Gen 4:10-12) Hail Mary
Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; preserve my life
from dread of the enemy. Hide me from the secret
plots of the wicked, from the throng of evildoers, who whet
their tongues like swords, who aim bitter words like arrows, shooting
from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly
and without fear. (Ps 64:1-4) Hail Mary
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed,
but not driven to despair; persecuted,
but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always
carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may
also be manifested in our bodies. For we who
live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of
Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death
is at work in us, but life in you. (2 Cn 4:8-12) Hail Mary
Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those
who rise up against me; deliver me from those
who work evil, and save me from bloodthirsty men. For
behold, they lie in wait for my life; fierce men stir up strife
against me. For no transgression or sin of mine, O Lord, for no fault of
mine, they run and make ready. Awake, come to meet me, and see! You, Lord God
of hosts, are God of Israel. Rouse yourself to punish all the nations; spare
none of those who treacherously plot evil. (Ps 59:1-5) Hail Mary
Glory be
Our Father
Indeed, all who
desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. (2
Tim 3:12) Hail Mary
But as for
you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing
from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been
acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise
for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (2 Tim 3:14,15) Hail Mary
As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who
hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in
himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution
arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. As
for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word,
but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke
the word, and it proves unfruitful. (Mt 13:20-22) Hail Mary
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various
places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they
will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you
will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. And then many will fall away
and betray one another and hate one another. (Mt 24:7-10) Hail
Mary
I have told you these things now. So when the time comes,
you will remember that I warned you. (Jn 16:4) Hail Mary
Then each one of these souls was given a white robe. They
were told to wait a short time longer. There were still some of their brothers
in the service of Christ who must be killed as they were. They were told to
wait until all of this killing was finished. (Rev 6:11) Hail Mary
How lonely sits the city that was full of people! How
like a widow has she become, she who was great among the nations! She who
was a princess among the provinces has become a slave. (Lam 1:1) Hail
Mary
“I called on your name, O Lord, from the depths of
the pit; you heard my plea, ‘Do not close your ear to my
cry for help!’ You came near when I called on you; you
said, ‘Do not fear!’ “You have taken up my cause, O Lord; you
have redeemed my life. You have seen the wrong done
to me, O Lord; judge my cause. You have seen
all their vengeance, all their plots against me. (Lam 3:55-60) Hail
Mary
“You will repay them, O Lord, according to
the work of their hands. You will give them dullness
of heart; your curse will be on them. You will pursue
them in anger and destroy them from under your heavens, O Lord.”
(Lam 3:64-66) Hail Mary
I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to
those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and
spitting. (Isa 50:6) Hail Mary
Glory be
Our Father
But I say to
you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you
on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue
you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And
if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. (Mt 5:39-41) Hail
Mary
Now when they heard
these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him. But
he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of
God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, “Behold, I
see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right
hand of God.” But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and
rushed together at him. Then they cast him out of the city
and stoned him. (Act 7:54-58) Hail Mary
For thus said the Lord of hosts, after his glory
sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches
you touches the apple of his eye: “Behold, I will shake my hand over
them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you
will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me. (Zec 2:8,9) Hail
Mary
O Lord, you know; remember me and visit me, and take
vengeance for me on my persecutors. In your forbearance take me not away; know
that for your sake I bear reproach. (Jer 15:15) Hail Mary
“I called out to the Lord, out of my distress, and he
answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice. For
you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded
me; all your waves and your billows passed over me. Then
I said, ‘I am driven away from your sight; yet I shall again look upon
your holy temple.’ The waters closed in over me to
take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head at the
roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me
forever; yet you brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God. When
my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to
you, into your holy temple. Those who pay regard to
vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love. But
I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed
I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord!” (Jh 2:2-9) Hail
Mary
O Lord, how many are my foes! Many are rising
against me; many are saying of my soul, “There is no
salvation for him in God.” – Selah – But you, O Lord,
are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
(Ps 3:1-3) Hail Mary
Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not
greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute
you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. (Jn 15:20) Hail
Mary
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for
those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in
heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends
rain on the just and on the unjust. (Mt 5:44,45) Hail Mary
Blessed are you when people hate you and when
they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on
account of the Son of Man! (Luke 6:22) Hail Mary
Who shall separate
us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or
famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For
your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as
sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are
more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Rm 8: 35-37) Hail
Mary
Glory be
